Paid with Skonto? Now one click says so

Credit notes with Skonto can now be marked as paid with the full or the discounted amount. ZEIT.IO books the remaining payment, keeps existing partial payments and dates a late-recorded Skonto payment within the discount window.

Lena runs a small agency and settles her freelancers' work by credit note. Tom's credit note for March comes to €1,190.00 — with 2% Skonto if it is paid within seven days. Lena transfers €1,166.20 on day five and marks the credit note as paid in ZEIT.IO.

Until now, that click told a different story: ZEIT.IO recorded the full €1,190.00 as paid. The €23.80 discount disappeared, no payment showed up in the payment section, and anyone looking at the credit note later could not tell that Skonto had been taken at all.

Mark credit note as paid with Skonto option

When a credit note carries a Skonto option, you now choose which amount was actually paid — the full amount or the Skonto amount.

What changes now

Two choices instead of one

For credit notes with Skonto, the action menu now offers two entries, each with the amount spelled out:

  • Mark as 'paid' (full amount: €1,190.00)
  • Mark as 'paid' (skonto: €1,166.20)

You see exactly what you are confirming before you click. Credit notes without Skonto keep the familiar single Mark as 'paid' entry.

The payment is booked for you

Marking a credit note as paid now records a real payment in the credit note's payment section, so status and payments always match. A Skonto payment is labelled Skonto.

If part of the amount has already been booked — say Lena had recorded €500.00 earlier — ZEIT.IO only books the remainder up to the amount you selected: €666.20 for Skonto, €690.00 for the full amount.

Skonto stays visible

A credit note marked paid with the Skonto amount appears in the overview with the gross amount struck through and the amount actually paid below it — just as if the payment had come in through a matched bank transaction. The audit log notes with the skonto amount.

Skonto

Marking it paid late is fine

Lena paid on time but only updates ZEIT.IO two weeks later? Choosing Skonto confirms the payment was made inside the discount window, so the booked payment is dated on the last day of that window at the latest, not on the day of the click.

Why this matters

Skonto is real money. If your records say the full amount was paid when it wasn't, your figures for the quarter are off, and so is every export built on them. Now the click that closes a credit note also records what really happened.

What you paid is what ZEIT.IO shows.
